CGR Systems, LLC
Automatic Continuous Galvanizing of Steel Rebar and Profiles
CGR Systems, LLC
Is a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Technologies. Western Technologies is a multi-national company specializing in the design and supply of hot dip galvanizing plants throughout the world. CGR Systems designs and supplies systems for automatically and continuously galvanizing steel reinforcing bars and profiles such as bar, flat and angle.
Formability of CGR
The CGR process results in a flexible and adherent galvanized coating with no thick zinc-iron alloy layers. The coated bar can be bent, stretched, twisted or otherwise fabricated after the galvanizing process is complete without cracking or flaking the coating, regardless of the total coating mass. As a result, there is no zinc loss due to brittleness during forming in the field and repair requirements are minimal.
Fabricating CGR after galvanizing reduces transportation, manufacturing, and fabrication costs. The costs of installation and placement by accommodating last minute job site modifications and revisions are also reduced. This saves valuable time and money.
CGR Systems Process
1. Load
Load black uncoated rebar on to the CGR machine.
2. Blast
Used to descale the rebar prior to galvanizing.
3. Preheat
Preheating the surface of the rebar cuts galvanizing time from minutes down to seconds.
4. Galvanize
The bar moves through the system. A pump keeps the zinc level above the submerged bar. Excess zinc flows through the hole with the rebar and bock into the bath. for fuy release the costed bar then passes through an air knife with a circular orifice which is used to control the coating weight.
5. Quench/Passivate
Rebar passes through a cooling bath.
6. Bundling
The finished galvanized rebar is bundled and prepared for the customer.
